Recap:
At last Wednesday’s #EndPoliceAssociations rally, Week 137, Sister Helen, the mother of #JohnHorton, reminded us that, “we will always stick together…we will always stay in the street.” In addition, we were joined by the families of #JohnathanHart, #JamesMincey, #AnthonyVargas and #DavidSullivan, while Pastor Cue and Kayo’s gave a healing dose of artistic expression.
Last Saturday’s This Is Not A Drill featured a lively conversation on Debunking the Smash-and-Grab Narrative with journalist Keith Boykin. On our #MoreThanAHashtag segment, we spoke with the sister of #JessicaBrown, who was murdered by LAPD in July during a mental health crisis. Donate today to support her family and help efforts to receive accountability for her life being stolen. Our very own Dr. Melina Abdullah hosted, with Baba Akili in the co-host chair. Missed it? Governor Gavin Newsom named head of Emily’s List (the organization built to recruit and support women candidates) and labor leader - Laphonza Butler to the U.S. Senate. Butler replaces Diane Feinstein who died earlier in the week at the age of 90. Butler is the only Black woman in the U.S. Senate and joins Corey Booker, Raphael Warnock, and Tim Scott to be one of four Black U.S. Senators.
