  • MONDAY, 9/25/2023 at 4:30PM – Demand Justice for #AnthonyMcClain at the Pasadena City Council Meeting on Zoom https://us02web.zoom.us/j/161482446 – Call in to the Pasadena City Council meeting and demand the City Council fire the police officers who murdered #AnthonyMcClain.   • TUESDAY, 9/26/2023 at 9:30AM – Los Angeles Police Commission Meeting at LAPD HQ 100 W. 1st St. –  Come out IN PERSON and demand that the so-called oversight body of the LAPD actually hold killer cops accountable! Make your voice heard during public comment and demand that the meeting reflects the will of the community.  Coalition talking points here. 

  • TUESDAY, 9/26/2023 at 6:30PM – Torrance City Council Meeting for #ChristopherDeAndreMitchell IN PERSON at Torrance City Hall 3031 Torrance Blvd. – Let’s continue demanding the Council deliver justice in the name of #ChristopherDeAndreMitchell by establishing a civilian oversight commission of the Torrance Police Department.

Recap:

  • Last Tuesday, BLMLA and White People for Black Lives held a press conference to issue the demand to #FireChiefMoore as he (mis)leads the most murderous police department in the nation with 27 people shot and 17 people killed so far this year. Following the press conference, the community packed the LA Police Commission Meeting, where the sister of #JessicaBrown, who was killed by LAPD in July, spoke publicly for the first time calling for increased mental health services and for the police not to respond to mental health calls.

  • At last Wednesday’s #EndPoliceAssociations rally, Week 136, we drummed out the revolution with Project Knucklehead and educated supporters on the countless reasons why the mayor and the LA Police Commission must #FireChiefMoore. We were joined by the families of #DavidSullivan, #JamesMincey and #JuanCorrea. We were reminded how we must continue to hold the LA Sheriff’s accountable- #GoogleLASDGangs.

  • Last Saturday’s This Is Not A Drill featured a conversation live from the Congressional Black Caucus with BLMLA’s Sheila Bates, Thandiwe Abdullah of BLM Youth Vanguard and Dr. Wes Bellamy of Virginia State University. For our #MoreThanAHashtag conversation we spoke with the sister of #JamesLeatherwood, who was shot and killed by a Hollywood, FL SWAT officer in 2018.
