  • MONDAY, 6/14/2021 at 12PM – People’s Budget LA Twitter Storm – Despite hundreds of thousands of people marching in the streets chanting #DefundThePolice, and an overwhelming number of callers in to City Council  making the same demand, the Los Angeles City Council unanimously voted to approve Mayor Garcetti’s 2021-2022 budget – increasing LAPD’s budget by $39 million. Join the People’s Budget LA for a Twitter Storm and let’s tell the City Council that this budget goes against the will of the people and they still have time to do something about it! Our three demands are: 1) Amend the budget to #DefundThePolice 2) Advance the Bonin/Raman #NoNewCops amendment.  3) Support Black communities by funding Black-led organizations. Retweet from @BLMLA on Twitter.

Make public comment for the Pasadena City Council meeting at 4:30pm and demand that Council: 1) Call for the immediate firing and prosecution of Officer Edwin Dumaguindin 2) Accept the resignation of Police Chief Perez EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, and 3) Remove City Manager Steve Mermell. Please submit a speaker card prior to the public comment period at the link here. • TUESDAY, 6/15/2021 at 3:30PM – Students Deserve Police Free LAUSD Rally at LAUSD HQ 333 S. Beaudry Ave. – The fight continues for a #PoliceFreeLAUSD! School police disproportionately target Black students and are agents of the school to prison pipeline. Join Students Deserve this Tuesday and every Tuesday there’s a School Board meeting to demand cops off of campus and investing that money towards Black student achievement!

  • TUESDAY, 6/15/2021 at 7PM – Torrance City Council Meeting for #ChristopherDeAndreMitchell at TorranceCA.gov and facebook.com/TorranceCA/ – Demand justice in the name of #ChristopherDeandreMitchell, who was killed on December 9, 2018 by Torrance police officers Anthony Chavez and Matthew Concannon. The officers still haven’t been fired or prosecuted and Torrance still has no civilian review board to hold police accountable. To make a public comment during the meeting, call 310-618-2404 or you can email your comment in by 3pm to CouncilMeetingPublicComment@TorranceCA.gov.

  • WEDNESDAY, 6/16/2021 at 3PM (and every Wednesday) – Fund Services, Not Police! #EndPoliceAssociations at 1313 W. 8th St., Los Angeles – This week’s action will uplift Juneteenth and Black freedom! Let’s talk about the history of Juneteenth and why celebrating it compels us to continue fighting for total Black freedom – a world without police killing our people, a world without police associations protecting killer cops, and a world where our city officials invest in strengthening our communities rather than law enforcement. As always, we’ll center families whose loved ones were stolen by police violence. Wear masks and bring your bodies, spirits, energy, drums, signs, flags and dedication.

  • THURSDAY, 6/17/2021 at 7PM – This Is Not a Drill! “Telling Our Own Stories through Black-Owned Media” facebook.com/blmla – Let’s talk about the importance of Black-owned media with talk show host and author Tavis Smiley, who is launching a new radio station, KBLA Talk 1580 AM. Also joining is our beloved sister Dominique DiPrima, longtime host of Front Page and now morning drive-time host on KBLA. KBLA will also be the new home for This Is Not a Drill! (with continued simulcast to Facebook) beginning on Juneteenth. Conversation hosted by our own Melina Abdullah.

  • SATURDAY, 6/19/2021 at 11AM – Juneteenth March and Takeover, beginning at Ralph’s parking lot on Obama & LaBrea – Celebrate Black freedom with Black Lives Matter, Downtown Crenshaw, Sista Skate, and BLD PWR. Teach-in on the history of Juneteenth led by actor, activist and native Houstonian Kendrick Sampson. Sounds by Tynacity (That DJ). Bring your skates, skateboards, bikes, signs, and energy.
