Weekly Email 11/29-12/5/2021

This Week’s BLMLA Actions/Events (11/29/2021-12/6/2021):

  • MONDAY, 11/29/2021 at 4:30PM – Demand Justice for #AnthonyMcClain at the Pasadena City Council Meeting on Zoom https://us02web.zoom.us/j/161482446#AnthonyMcClain was murdered on August 15, 2020 by the Pasadena Police Department, stolen from his children and his family. The City of Pasadena is avoiding accountability and even worse antagonizing us in our demands. But as we know, WHEN WE FIGHT, WE WIN and we will keep advocating for justice for #AnthonyMcClain!  Make public comment at the Pasadena City Council meeting to: 1) Call for the immediate firing and prosecution of Officer Edwin Dumaguindin 2) Accept the resignation of Police Chief Perez EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. Please submit a speaker card prior to the public comment period at the link here. To participate by phone, call 1-669-900-6833, Meeting ID: 161 482 446. Learn more and find talking points here.

  • WEDNESDAY, 12/1/2021 at 10AM – IT’S OUR LAST CHANCE TO PREVENT BLACK ERASURE IN THE REDISTRICTING PROCESS at City Council Special Meeting by phone 1 669 254 5252 – The 8th Council District is the only majority Black district in Los Angeles and its only “assets”: USC and Exposition Park, are being stripped by the Council’s redistricting proposal. Last week’s public comments were overwhelming in support of returning USC and Expo Park to the 8th district, and it is critical we raise our voices again this week in support. To make public comment, call 1 669 254 5252 and use Meeting ID No. 160 535 8466 and then press #. Press # again when prompted for participant ID. Once admitted into the meeting, press *9 to request to speak.

  • WEDNESDAY, 12/1/2021 at 4PM (and every Wednesday at 4PM) – Fund Services, Not Police! #EndPoliceAssociations at 1313 W. 8th St., Los Angeles – Join us in beloved community to #EndPoliceAssociations! Police associations shield killer cops from being held accountable, bully and bribe our elected officials and jockey for the lion's share of our city resources. They stand in complete opposition of the working class people and must be stopped. Wear masks and bring your bodies, spirits, energy, drums, signs, flags and dedication. If you’re not able to come out, share the flyer widely and engage in virtual protest by tuning in to the action on Instagram Live @blmlosangeles. This week’s protest will honor the legacy of Mrs. Rosa Parks on the anniversary of the Montgomery Bus Boycott with featured speaker Ms. Barbara Lott-Holland of the Bus Riders Union.
