BLMLA Actions/Events (6/24/2024-7/1/2024)

Wednesday, 6/26/2024 at 4PM - #EndPoliceAssociations Rally at 1313 W. 8th Street - Police are not workers! They are tools of the oppressor, meant to threaten and exact violence on the workers of the world. No time is this more apparent than now as LAPD brutalizes and arrests those demanding a #FreePalestine and the end to Black death at the hands of police. Join BLMLA and the families of those killed by police as we chant down the Los Angeles Police Protective League.

Spring St. DTLA - Join faith leaders, organizers, workers, and community members for a rally and call to Friday prayer demanding a #CeasefireNow as a bare minimum and moral imperative that Los Angeles City Council must pass now. Co-convened by BLMLA, BLM Grassroots, Islah-LA, CAIR-California, Latino-Muslim Unity, Jewish Voice for Peace, Muslim Public Affairs Council, If Not Now, Islamic Shura Council and Labor for Palestine.

Recap:

  • A special Juneteenth edition of #EndPoliceAssociations was held in AfricaTown. With drumming from Project Knucklehead, snacks, speakers, and including the family of #GrecharioMack, we raised our voices for justice. We remembered the thousands of lives stolen by police and state-sanctioned violence. Join every Wednesday as we fight for the end of the Los Angeles Police Protective League.

  • On our radio program, This Is Not a Drill!, aired live on KBLA 1580 AM last Saturday. Baba Akili and Sister Sheila were joined by John Parker of the Peace and Freedom Party and Dr. Richard Rose of the Justice for All Party for a productive discussion on the importance of third parties. #MoreThanAHashtag conversation with the family of #RickyCobb Missed it? • On Saturday, 6/22/2024, BLMLA and BLM Grassroots joined forces with more than a dozen other organizations to demonstrate against the Death Merchants at Boeing and Raytheon-RTX. United, we brought our moral outrage to Boeing's doorstep, calling weapons manufactures to account for reaping massive profit through the mass murder of the Palestinian people.

  • On Saturday, 6/22/2024, BLMLA and Black Lives Matter Grassroots stood in solidarity with our Palestinian comrades from USPCN the Palestinian Women’s Association for a "Vigil for Gaza." We honored and mourned the tens of thousands of mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters who have been massacred in Palestine.
