Recap:
Last Wednesday’s #EndPoliceAssociations Rally, Week 151, Dr. Melina Abdullah led a discussion on using 2024 as time to be intentional with our spiritual gifts and radical imaginings, building energy towards the world we want and deserve. The legendary Kayo inspired us with his gift of song, and the chosen family of #VanessaMarquez spoke powerfully and we were joined by organizers from Cancel the Contract, who encouraged us to organize for justice in the name of #NianiFinlayson.
Last week BLMLA, BLM Birmingham, BLM Atlanta, BLM Mississippi and BLM Florida gathered with the family of #StevePerkins and local organizers in Decatur, Alabama to demand justice in Steve’s name. Steve should have been celebrating his 40th birthday with his wife, children, family and community; instead his life was stolen by Decatur police. A panel discussion featured the families of #MikeBrown, #RonaldGreene, and #AndrewJosephIII, along with organizers from Black Lives Matter Grassroots. Streamed live on IG @blmgrassroots.
Saturday’s This Is Not a Drill! focused on ending the criminalization of Black girls, women and gender non-confirming folks. Brilliantly hosted by our own Joseph Williams with Baba Akili in the cohost chair. Missed it? Catch it wherever you get your podcasts under BLM This Is Not a Drill.
