  • SUNDAY, 11/12/2023 7-9PM – BLMLA Monthly Organizing Meeting at the Center for Black Power, 3423 W. 43rd Place, Los Angeles – Black Xmas is around the corner. How are you going to Build Black, Buy Black and Bank Black? Let’s organize! Delicious, freshly prepared dinner with vegan options and produce bags to take home. ALL Black folks, youth, elders, non-Black people of color, and white allies all welcome. Closed to cops, media, elected officials, their staff, and haters.

  • MONDAY, 11/13/2023 4:30PM – Demand Justice for #AnthonyMcClain at the Pasadena City Council Meeting on Zoom https://us02web.zoom.us/j/161482446 – Call in to the Pasadena City Council meeting and demand the City Council fire the police officers who murdered #AnthonyMcClain.   • TUESDAY, 11/14/2023 9:30AM – ALL OUT for LA Police Commission Meeting in the Name of #TakarSmith, 100 W. 1st St., DTLA – The LA Police Commission will consider whether or not the January 1, 2023 killing of Takar Smith by LAPD was “in policy.” Takar was a Black, active father who was suffering a mental health crisis when his life was stolen. BLMLA and supporters will stand with Takar’s family at the Commission meeting, where we’ll offer public comment. 

  • TUESDAY, 11/14/2023 at 6:30PM – Torrance City Council Meeting for #ChristopherDeAndreMitchell IN PERSON at Torrance City Hall 3031 Torrance Blvd. – Let’s continue to demand that the Council deliver justice in the name of #ChristopherDeAndreMitchell by establishing a civilian oversight commission of the Torrance Police Department.

  • WEDNESDAY, 11/15/2023 at 4PM – #EndPoliceAssociations Rally - STAY TUNED FOR POSSIBLE SPECIAL ACTION - Streamed live on Instagram at @blmlosangeles.

  • THURSDAY, 11/16/2023 1:30-2:30PM – The Legacy of Black Student Organizing at Cal State LA – Join Dr. Melina Abdullah’s Black Power class in person on campus or virtually for an intergenerational conversation with high schoolers, college students and youth movement veterans on the importance of Black student organizing.

  • SATURDAY, 11/18/2023 8-10AM – This Is Not a Drill! on KBLA Talk 1580AM or facebook.com/BLMLA – SAG/AFTRA has settled its contract…but it’s still a hot labor fall! The California Faculty Association, representing the professors, librarians, coaches and counselors in the Cal States are going on strike! Let’s talk about what this means for public higher education with Dr. Anthony Ratcliff and more union leaders to be announced. Our own Melina Abdullah hosts.
