Weekly Email 2/28/2022-3/7/2022

This Week’s BLMLA Actions/Events (2/28/2022-3/7/2022):

  • MONDAY, 2/28/2022 at 4:30PM – Demand Justice for #AnthonyMcClain at the Pasadena City Council Meeting on Zoom https://us02web.zoom.us/j/161482446Every Monday we continue to push the Pasadena City Council to take action and remove the officers who murdered #AnthonyMcClain. Lately the council's new excuse is that they don’t have power to do anything and they are waiting on District Attorney Gascon. We know this is not true and they do have the power to do something now. Fill out a speaker card for items not on the agenda before 4:00 pm or send an email to the city council. Place a speaker card for “Items not on the agenda” and let them know: We demand the firing of officer Edwin Dumaguindin, who shot #AnthonyMcClain twice in the back, the firing of Ronald Soreno, who knelt on him, and every officer involved in the cover up. Please submit speaker cards prior to the public comment period at the link here. To participate by phone, call 1-669-900-6833, Meeting ID: 161 482 446. Learn more and find talking points here.

  • TUESDAY, 3/1/2022 at 9:30AM – Los Angeles Police Commission Meeting on Zoom at https://lapd.zoom.us/s/289225944Chief Moore’s proposal for a policy authorizing use of “pretext stops” in certain circumstances spells out how officers can continue the same abusive behavior under a new guise. Make public comment to demand the police commission reject the proposal, reject the surveillance of Black and Brown communities, and demand reparations for the 27th street community where LAPD detonated explosives on June 30, 2021, leading to the deaths of #AuzieHouchins and #RamonReyes. Coalition talking points here. Please use the “raise hand” function to speak. To participate by phone, call (855) 880-1246, Meeting ID: 289 225 944. Press *9 to be put in the cue for public comment.
