  • MONDAY, 6/28/2021 at 9:30AM – County Budget Hearing by phone (877) 226-8163, Participant Code: 3658810 – Call in to the County Budget Hearing to uplift the demand to #FullyFundMeasureJ and implement a #CareFirstBudget! Talking points here.

  • MONDAY, 6/28/2021 at 12:00PM – SB2 Twitter Storm – SB2, the Kenneth Ross Jr. Decertification Bill heads to the California Assembly Public Safety Committee where they are trying to water it down! Join Black Lives Matter and other allied organizations to demand that the California Assembly pass SB2 as written, without any amendments. This bill would have the power to take away the guns and badges of officers who engage in misconduct and prevent them from being an officer anywhere in the state, which could have saved the life of Kenneth Ross, Jr. and many others. Toolkit here.

  • MONDAY, 6/28/2021 at 4:30PM – Downtown Crenshaw Protest David Schwartzmann at the intersection of Hillcrest Rd. & Sunset Blvd. – Downtown Crenshaw is at a critical point in the effort to prevent racist gentrifier #DavidSchwartzman from buying the Crenshaw Mall and establishing self-determination for the center of Black Los Angeles. They’ll be organizing a demonstration in Schwartzmann’s Beverly Hills Community. A car caravan is leaving from the Crenshaw Mall parking lot near Baskin-Robbins at 3:30pm.

  • MONDAY, 6/28/2021 at 4:30PM – Pasadena City Council Meeting on zoom https://us02web.zoom.us/j/161482446 – The family of #AnthonyMcClain has requested BLMLA support as they struggle for justice in Anthony’s name. Make public comment for the Pasadena City Council meeting at 4:30pm and demand that Council: 1) Call for the immediate firing and prosecution of Officer Edwin Dumaguindin 2) Accept the resignation of Police Chief Perez EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, and 3) Remove City Manager Steve Mermell. Please submit a speaker card prior to the public comment period at the link here. To participate by phone, call 1-669-900-6833, Meeting ID: 161 482 446.

  • TUESDAY, 6/29/2020 9:30AM – Los Angeles Police Commission Meeting on Zoom at https://lapd.zoom.us/s/289225944. On this week’s agenda, the police commission will discuss criminal investigation trainings led by Detective Lou Turriaga. Turriaga was one of the LAPD officers who brutalized Rodney King 30 years ago. Also on the closed agenda, the commission plans to review the Executive Director’s report on the “Civilian” Hearing Examiners. The LAPPL spent millions to pass Measure C, pretending that more “Civilian” Hearing Examiners meant more transparency and accountability. Join public comment and remind the commissioners of the hypocrisy of their actions and continue to demand #FireChiefMoore. Talking points here.

  • WEDNESDAY, 6/30/2021 at 3PM (and every Wednesday) Fund Services, Not Police! #EndPoliceAssociations at 1313 W. 8th St., Los Angeles – The people voted in Measure J last November and the Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs (ALADS) are trying to tear it down! We must stand up against the police associations who continue to attack progressive justice reform and refuse to prioritize care over incarceration. As always, we’ll center families whose loved ones were stolen by police violence. Wear masks and bring your bodies, spirits, energy, drums, signs, flags and dedication. If you’re not able to come out, tune in to the action on Instagram Live @blmlosangeles.
