SUNDAY, 9/12/2021 at 7PM – Black Lives Matter Monthly General Meeting – Youth Justice Coalition 7625 S. Central Ave – Join Black Lives Matter’s monthly meeting for a conversation on why we must vote no on the California recall. We welcome ALL Black folks, non-Black allies, elders, youth, families, new people, returning and standing members. Closed to law enforcement, media, elected officials and their staff, and haters. Donations welcome, but not required. Free vegan dinner and produce boxes provided by Vegan Outreach. ASL translation by Pro Bono ASL.
MONDAY, 9/13/2021 at 4:30PM – Pasadena City Council Meeting on zoom https://us02web.zoom.us/j/161482446 – The family of #AnthonyMcClain has requested BLMLA support as they struggle for justice in Anthony’s name. Make public comment for the Pasadena City Council meeting at 4:30pm and demand that Council: 1) Call for the immediate firing and prosecution of Officer Edwin Dumaguindin 2) Accept the resignation of Police Chief Perez EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, and 3) Remove City Manager Steve Mermell. TUESDAY, 9/14/2021 at 9:30AM – Los Angeles Police Commission Meeting on Zoom at https://lapd.zoom.us/s/289225944 – New records have surfaced revealing LAPD’s social media surveillance that targets our movement and activists. Make public comment to Stop LAPD Spying and demand the commission #FireChiefMoore! Coalition talking points here. Please use the “raise hand” function to speak. TUESDAY, 9/14/2021 at 6:30PM – Torrance City Council Meeting IN PERSON for #ChristopherDeAndreMitchell at 3031 Torrance Blvd, Torrance, CA 90503 – Torrance police officers Matthew Concannon and Anthony Chavez killed #ChristopherDeAndreMitchell within 15 seconds of approaching the vehicle and to this day have not been fired or prosecuted. Join Christopher’s family and BLMLA in demanding that the officers be fired and that Torrance City Council finally create a civilian oversight commission of the police department, like they were told to do in 2018. We voted...now let’s stay in these streets and ORGANIZE! Bring down these police associations that steal the lives of our people, gobble up our public resources, block meaningful legislation, and stand in the way of progress. FRIDAY, 9/17/2021 at 7PM – “An Octoroon” outdoor show at the Fountain Theater, 5060 Fountain Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90029 – Missed out of seeing some of the art from Black Lives Matter-LA’s New Black City exhibit? Some of the artists featured in the show will have their work on display and for sale at the Fountain Theater's outdoor show of "An Octoroon.” The art will be out before and after the show that starts at 7pm.
