Generational Black wealth and a history of Black independence was endangered by the Eaton fire that tore through Pasadena and Altadena this January. Black Lives Matter Los Angeles immediately leapt into action to support Black people in need.

First, all cash donations in January went directly into the hands of fire victims so they could have dignity and agency, as stated by James Farr.

James Farr describes the true needs of the displaced dealing with the aftermath of the Eaton fire.

Second, Black Lives Matter Los Angeles collected a virtual mountain of donations -- clothes, toiletries, air purifiers and more. Truckloads were delivered to people on the ground, as described in this video:

Times of great challenge bring times of great connection.

Black Lives Matter Grassroots continues the on-the-ground work of liberation for Black people.

Please let us know if you suffered from the fire and need help.
