Last Saturday, Black Lives Matter-Los Angeles stood alongside the family of #GuillermoMedina, on what should have been his 40th birthday. Guillermo was killed by Culver City police on December 18, 2022 while he was in the midst of a mental health crisis.
Last Saturday on This Is Not a Drill! Joseph Williams, core organizer with Black Lives Matter-Los Angeles, hosted an important conversation about Los Angeles teachers fighting for our students. United Teachers Los Angeles President Cecily Myart-Cruz joined the conversation. Our #MoreThanAHashtag conversation was with the mother of #JaylenLewis, a 25-year-old Black man shot and killed by Mississippi’s Capitol Police task force on September 25, 2022. Missed it? Watch here.
