TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY 1/31, 2/1 & 2/3/2023 at 10AM – City Council Meeting at 200 N. Main St. – Demand justice in the name of #KeenanAnderson by urging city council to move forward on the Bonin/Harris-Dawson motion to remove police from traffic stops. Many councilmembers released statements condemning the police brutality seen in the body camera footage of Tyre Nichols, however, they haven’t condemned the LAPD for the death of #KeenanAnderson during a traffic incident. Join Black Lives Matter-LA, allied organizations and community members in making public comments to remove police from traffic stops. We also want to uplift that there should be no racists on the city council! Demand Kevin de Léon’s resignation from council immediately, following his racist remarks in the audio leak scandal.
*You must have proof of COVID vaccination and ID to enter City Hall.

TUESDAY, 1/31/2023 at 6PM – Los Angeles Police Commission Meeting on Zoom at https://lapd.zoom.us/s/289225944 – LAPD Chief Michel Moore has yet to acknowledge the brutality his officers committed when they stole the lives of #KeenanAnderson, #TakarSmith, #OscarLeonSanchez. Uplift the rallying cry for #NoMoreMoore and demand the commissioners reject Chief Moore’s bid for an additional 5-year term. Coalition talking points here. Please use the “raise hand” function to speak. To participate by phone, call (855) 880-1246, Meeting ID: 289 225 944. Press *9 to be put in the cue for public comment.
WEDNESDAY, 2/1/2022 at 4PM – #EndPoliceAssociations at 1313 W. 8th St. – Meet us for an opening press conference at 4PM sharp to challenge Mayor Bass’ decision to reappoint LAPD Chief Michel Moore over the will of the people. Police associations block any meaningful reform and shield killer cops from accountability with legal principles like qualified immunity. Bring your voices, your energy, and your commitment to building a just and free world, where police associations no longer have control over public safety policy. Wear a mask! Snacks and water provided! Streamed live on Instagram at @blmlosangeles. Every Wednesday at 4pm!

Recap:
Last Sunday, Black Lives Matter-LA hosted a protest to demand Police Out of Traffic Stops in the names of #TyreNichols, #KeenanAnderson, #DaunteWright, #SandraBland, #DevinBrown, #PhilandoCastile, #JarvisLykes, #TerenceCrutcher, #RonaldGreene, #AnthonyMcClain and too many others. Around 500 protesters took to the streets, with skateboards, wheels, signs and chants, as we shut down the intersection of Venice and Lincoln, where on January 3rd, LAPD repeatedly tased Keenan Anderson, leading him to have a fatal heart attack shortly after. After taking the intersection, we marched to the home of Councilmember Traci Park to demand she take action against
