TL;DR for the Weekly Email 1/28/2020
As we reflect on Kobe’s legacy, let’s remember who he was beyond basketball. He had recently become more immersed in justice struggles. Just a few weeks ago, he bought out the entire movie theater at the Crenshaw Mall for a special screening of Just Mercy, attended by 1,000 folks from justice organizations, including more than 250 from Black Lives Matter. He, along with Bryan Stevenson and the stars of the film, personally welcomed us. It is unclear what path he was forging, but he was clear about his commitment to justice. May we be inspired as we continue to #DoTheWork.
