  • TUESDAY, 8/27/2024 at 9:30AM – Los Angeles Police Commission Meeting at LAPD HQ 100 W. 1st St. -  Join the LAPC Fails Coalition, including Black Lives Matter-LA, Stop LAPD Spying, White People 4 Black Lives, LA CAN, and allies, as we show up and call out the LA Police Commission for refusing to hold killer cops accountable after they steal our loved ones and take much-needed resources away from our community. Join us in the struggle by making your voice heard during public comment. DEFUND THE POLICE!
     

  • Wednesday, 8/28/2024 4PM - #BlackAugust Edition of #EndPoliceAssociations Rally at 1313 W. 8th Street - On the last Wednesday of August we will close out with a final #BlackAugust commemoration. Join us for an afternoon of powerful speakers, artistic expression, and a special focus on the lives stolen while in jails and prisons. We will also be writing letters to political prisoner Imam Jamil Al-Amin (H. Rap Brown) as part of our ongoing commitment to support those unjustly incarcerated.  Join BLMLA and the families of those killed by police as we chant down the Los Angeles Police Protective League and demand the liberation of our stolen Black brothers and sisters.
     

  • Friday, 8/30/2024 8:30AM - Court Support for the family of #ChristopherDeAndreMitchell at Criminal Courts Building, 210 W. Temple St., 9th Floor, Department 108 - Stand with the family of Christopher DeAndre Mitchell, who was murdered by Torrance Police in 2018. Former cops Matthew Concannon and Anthony Chavez now stand trial for Christopher’s murder.
     

  • Saturday, 8/31/2024 8-10AM - This Is Not a Drill! on KBLA 1580 AM - Tune in to This Is Not a Drill! every Saturday from 8-10AM on KBLA Talk 1580 AM or facebook.com/BLMLA. This week’s conversation will focus on the role of Black folks in the labor movement with key union organizers. Taking your calls at 800-920-1580.
     

  • Saturday, 8/31/2024 6PM - Black August Los Angeles Closing Program at the Center for Black Power, 3423 W. 43rd Place, Los Angeles - Join comrades from Black August Los Angeles for a special closing program reflecting on what it means to fight for our political prisoners and for Black freedom. Light refreshments provided. RSVP by text to 323-552-9109.

  • Last Tuesday, the LAPC Fails Coalition, including Black Lives Matter-LA, rallied at the Los Angeles Police Commission meeting at LAPD HQ. The coalition, joined by Stop LAPD Spying, White People 4 Black Lives, LA CAN, and other allies, called out the LA Police Commission for refusing to hold killer cops accountable. The protest highlighted the ongoing theft of lives and resources from the community by the LAPD. Join us every Tuesday to express your outrage and continue applying pressure on the Los Angeles Police Commission.
     

  • On Wednesday, the #BlackAugust Edition of the #EndPoliceAssociations rally took place , as we continued to honor and commemorate political prisoners. August 21st was proclaimed Black Power Day, harnessing the energy of historic rebellions that occurred on this date like the Haitian Revolution, Nat Turner’s Rebellion, and the uprising at San Quentin Prison. Project Knucklehead led with powerful drumming, energizing the crowd as Black Lives Matter-LA and the families of those killed by police chanted down the Los Angeles Police Protective League, demanding the liberation of our stolen Black brothers and sisters.
     

  • Last Saturday's edition of "This Is Not a Drill!" on KBLA 1580 AM focused on the Democratic National Convention and the protests surrounding it. Hosted by Baba Akili, with Kim Holmes as co-host, the show featured guests Dominique DiPrima from KBLA and Dr. Melina Abdullah, with special guest calls from Dr. Cornel West and journalist Cerise Castle. The discussion delved into the national and global political landscape, the importance of protest, and the ongoing struggle for justice in Black America. Missed it?
